Celebrating its 8th and final year on the beautiful campus of the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine, the Acadia Trad Festival is a jam-packed week of classes, workshops, jam sessions, concerts and dances. Focusing on the Irish, Scottish, Québecois, Acadian, and Cape Breton styles, our world-class teaching staff have offer programs for fiddle, guitar, bouzouki, cello, piano, piano accordion, banjo, concertina, whistle, bodhran, dance, song and more.
And, since the 2020 Festival will be our last, expect it to be better than ever! We sincerely hope you join us.
What’s it all about?
Adults, teens, children, families — students of all ages and abilities are welcome. With more than 20 major courses of study, full-time students spend the week in intensive studies, sessions, and fun. Can’t spend the whole week with us? That’s OK — you can choose among a large selection of afternoon workshops, join in a dance, or attend nightly concerts.
Best of all, we guarantee that you will have a the experience of a lifetime. If you really feel like you did not get your money’s worth out of our program, we will happily refund your course tuition fees.
A few words from our participants…
Warm, friendly . . .
“I was feeling a bit anxious before attending Trad School this time around because I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and major in a melodic instrument , the Tin Whistle, rather than the usual dance workshop I’m more accustomed to taking. However my trepidation was quickly eased by the warm, friendly, patient, highly skilled and trained instructors. I found it so easy to learn the tunes by ear through their high quality teaching! I would recommend Acadia School of Traditional Music and Arts to anyone interested in delving deeper into their craft, from beginner to master level.” – Adam
Amazing experience . . .
Stylistically diverse . . .
A fiddler’s dream . . .
Favourite week of the year . . .
“Acadia Trad School is my favourite week of the year! The lessons from world-class faculty, the amazing faculty concerts, the comeraderie of all ages and skill levels and all the new friends we meet are the things that stand out the most. Every detail of this week-long event is beautifully organized demonstrated in every detail. If you attend once, you’re bitten by the bug and have to return every year for more! The setting is magnificent and the musical memories are multiple!” – Marilyn
